Do I need to install new cameras?

No. Gauss reads the footage your existing CCTV, NVR, or cloud VMS already records — point it at a stream or a clip export and it starts analyzing.

How is this different from a doorway people-counter?

A doorway sensor gives you one number — a total. Gauss classifies zones (counter, queue, aisles, staff) from the same footage, so you get occupancy, queue depth, and staffing coverage, not just a headcount.

What footage formats work?
